LoL Behind the Scene TEAM

Meet the Ladies of Latitude 2026 Board of Directors

PRESIDENT

CARLY HARRIS

Carolyn (Carly) and her husband Tad returned to the United States on June 1, 2024 after living abroad for four decades. As the wife, daughter and granddaughter of service members, Carly’s life has been a fast-paced worldwide adventure. She feels incredibly blessed and is grateful that her “forever home” is now on Paradise Dr. in “Paradise on Earth” and to have the opportunity to share her time with the wonderful residents that have also chosen to make LMWS their home. Coming home to the “land of round doorknobs” after so many years is the beginning of yet another adventure… Carly retired on May 30, 2024 after 37 years with the USO. She joined the organization as a volunteer tour guide providing welcome orientation tours of Wiesbaden and Mainz, Germany to active-duty service members and their families. Her language skills, personal travel experience and travel industry background guaranteed that this was a match made in heaven. She was blessed to have found an organization that she loved with a mission that she was/is passionate about. It was truly not a job but rather a calling. During her tenure with the USO Carly held a variety of positions at both the center and regional levels to include Director of Operations for the USO Europe and Southwest Asia Regions and Vice President for the Pacific Region. Her positions required her to perform a variety of managerial, operational, programming, special event planning, marketing, development and public affairs responsibilities. And of course, the “Other Duties as Assigned”. While in Europe, Carly was also responsible for establishing USO centers at Tent City at Rhein Main Air Base, Germany during Desert Shield/Desert Storm; in Berlin, Schweinfurt, Ansbach and Hohenfels, Germany; in Mogadishu, Somalia; in Kaposvar, Hungary; at Camp Wolverine, Kuwait; at Camp As Sayliyah Qatar, the Pat Tilman Center on Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan and at Powidz, Poland. While in the Pacific she was responsible for providing operational oversight for USO operations in Guam, Hawaii, mainland Japan, Okinawa, Korea and for providing expeditionary support for Darwin, Australia, Singapore and the Philippines. Working with USO Entertainment at USO Headquarters to plan and support celebrity tours to visit service members was a highlight of her time with the USO. She has many stories to tell about the celebrities that she had the opportunity to work with to include Bob Hope, Angelina Jolie, Billy Joel, Cher, Journey, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson and Gary Sinise to name a few. And of course there were football players and cheerleaders. Her absolute favorites, and those with whom she admits to being “starstruck”, were Medal of Honor Recipients and Cookie Monster. Carly was always happiest when she wasn’t “flying her desk” i.e. she was working an event or program and interacting with single service members or service members and their families. Before joining the USO, Carly worked in the travel industry. She was a Cruise Manager, Hotel Front Desk Manager, Rental Car Agent and Travel Agent. Following her graduation from the American Cooperative School in Monrovia, Liberia, Carly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages from Arizona State University and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology. Carly is a member of the vestry at St. Thomas by the Sea Episcopal Church. She is also a fitness enthusiast and is credentialed as a Certified Personal Trainer, 200 Hour Yoga instructor, aerobics instructor and kickboxing instructor. She and her husband Tad have an adult daughter, Caitlin who is a Music Educator at the Korea International School in Seoul, Korea.
